For decades Train Stations where often the first and/or last place visitors to a town or city saw. They played a vital role in commerce, communication and travel. Farewells where said, loved ones reunited, and soldiers went to war. Though almost never the star Stations have been a stage on which a lot of Canadian history has played out. Some grew with their towns as one station replaced another over the years, some were aspirational, being much bigger than the town needed at the time but reflected the anticipated growth or at least a symbol of what the community wished to be.
Below is a map of active, surviving and recreated stations across Canada.
